WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - UCLA's Beau Amaral, David Berg, Jeff Gelalich, Scott Griggs, Tyler Heineman, and Adam Plutko have captured All-Pac-12 Conference honors, as announced by the conference office Wednesday.

The six all-conference team selections are the most by any UCLA baseball team since 1997, when seven players from that season's College World Series ballclub earned All-Pac-10 team accolades.

Amaral and Plutko have earned All-Pac-12 accolades for the second time in their career. Amaral was named to the all-conference team as a freshman in 2010, and Plutko earned the award as a freshman in 2011.

Heineman was the conference's only catcher selected to the 25-man All-Pac-12 team. Berg and Griggs were two of three relievers, and Gelalich and Amaral were two of four outfielders named to the all-conference team.

Relief pitcher Ryan Deeter captured honorable mention All-Pac-12 team honors, having gone 1-0 with a 0.98 ERA in 34 relief appearances during his redshirt sophomore campaign.

Gelalich ranks second in the Pac-12 with a .367 batting average and leads UCLA with nine home runs. The junior right fielder from La Verne, Calif., has tallied 39 RBI and 50 runs and ranks third in the Pac-12 with 79 hits.

Amaral has batted .313 with 17 extra-base hits, including four home runs and eight doubles, having compiled 43 RBI, 58 runs and 73 hits. The junior from Huntington Beach, Calif., has started all 56 games in center field for UCLA, hitting in the leadoff spot in every game.

Heineman enters the postseason with a .359 batting average and a .461 on-base percentage, the second-highest mark among Pac-12 hitters. The junior from Pacific Palisades, Calif., has caught a young pitching staff that has logged a 3.26 ERA, fourth-lowest in the Pac-12. In addition, he has thrown out 19 of 43 stolen base attempts (44.2 percent).

Plutko has gone 9-3 with a 2.79 ERA in 15 starts, collecting 78 strikeouts and 40 walks in a team-high 96.2 innings. The right-hander from Upland, Calif., has logged a 16-7 record with a 2.38 ERA in two seasons as an All-Pac-12 team selection. Plutko is slated to start UCLA's first NCAA Regional game against Creighton on Friday evening.

Berg has gone 5-3 with a 1.79 ERA in relief, having established the Pac-12's single-season appearances record (43). The right-hander from Covina, Calif., has pitched in UCLA's last 18 games. One of two freshmen named to the All-Pac-12 team (with Oregon State's Michael Conforto), Berg has logged 51 strikeouts and 15 walks in 60.1 innings.

Griggs ranks second in the Pac-12 with 15 saves, posting a 3-1 record and 2.27 ERA in 34 relief appearances. He has set UCLA's single-season saves record this spring, breaking the previous record of 12 saves set by Gabe Sollecito in 1992. Griggs has tallied 61 strikeouts, the second-highest total on the team, and 31 walks in 35.2 innings.

Arizona's Alex Mejia was named the Conference Player of the Year, as well as the Defensive Player of the Year. Oregon's Alex Keudell secured Pitcher of the Year honors, and Conforto earned Freshman of the Year acclaim. Arizona's Andy Lopez was named the Pac-12 Coach of the Year.

UCLA (42-14) opens its 2012 postseason schedule in the NCAA Los Angeles Regional against Creighton (26-28) on Friday evening. Game time at UCLA's Jackie Robinson Stadium is 7 p.m.
