Two future Bruins, Nirra Fields and Kari Korver, have a busy week of All-Star activities on tap. Fields is taking part in two All-American games in Chicago and Denver, while Korver is participating in a three-point contest in New Orleans.
Fields has already finished one of those All-Star games, which took place on Wednesday in the Windy City, as she scored a game-high 20 points in the McDonald's All-American Basketball Game. She went 9-of-11 from the field in 18 minutes, adding 2-of-3 from the free throw line, three rebounds, one block and one steal. The game will re-air on ESPN2 on Sunday, April 1 at midnight.
Fields, fresh off helping Mater Dei High School (Santa Ana, Calif.) to a Division I state championship last week, now heads to Denver, site of the Women's Final Four, for the WBCA High School All-America Game presented by Nike. The game will be played on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. MT.
Korver is on her way to New Orleans for the American Family Insurance High School Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships. The contest, which will take place on Friday, March 30 at 8 p.m. ET, will be aired at 1:30 p.m. PT on Sunday, April 1 on CBS.
Korver missed her senior season at Valley Christian High School (Paramount, Calif.) with an ACL injury. She scored 1,850 points during her three years at VCHS and is a two-time All-CIF selection.
