LOS ANGELES - The fourth-ranked UCLA women's tennis team heads to one of the most important events of the college season this week, as the Bruins will be in Charlottesville, Va. competing at the ITA National Team Indoor Championships from Feb. 10-13 at the Boar's Head Tennis Club. The University of Virginia is serving as the host school for the event.

UCLA (5-0) is seeded second in the tournament and opens up play on Friday against Georgia Tech (4-1) at 3:30 p.m. (PST). If the Bruins win, they will meet the winner of Northwestern and seventh-seeded Virginia in the quarterfinals on Saturday. Duke is the top-seeded team in the event. Top-ranked Florida and second-ranked Stanford have elected to not compete in this year's tournament. Live stats for all the matches can be accessed by visiting Virginia's Tournament Central Page. The ITA Tournament Page also has an event preview and historical information about the National Team Indoors.

The Bruins qualified for the National Team Indoors by downing both Utah and St. Mary's during ITA Kick-Off Weekend in late January at the Los Angeles Tennis Center. UCLA has never won the event, coming in second on two occasions (1990 and 1995). The University of Wisconsin served as the host school of the tournament for the first 23 years. Virginia became the only other school to host the event when it was moved to Charlottesville just last year.

UCLA enters the tournament on the heels of a pair of 7-0 shutouts over Loyola Marymount and Cal Poly at the Los Angeles Tennis Center last week. In fact, four of the Bruins' five wins this season have been shutouts, with the lone point given up in a 4-1 victory over Utah.

Freshman Robin Anderson is the team's highest ranked singles player, checking in at No. 8 in the latest rankings released on Jan. 3. She is followed by No. 62 McCall Jones, No. 70 Pamela Montez, No. 83 Courtney Dolehide and No. 112 Kaitlin Ray. Anderson and fellow freshman Skylar Morton are ranked No. 12 in doubles, followed by No. 23 Dolehide and Montez. New team and individual rankings will be released next week (Feb. 16). Complete rankings can be found here: ITA Rankings Page.
