The No. 2 UCLA men's water polo team defeated George Washington, 22-4, on Saturday afternoon at DeNunzio Pool in the Bruins' second game of the Princeton Invitational. UCLA (5-0) received a game-high four goals from senior Bret Lathrope.

The Bruins started with an auspicious 4-4 tie at the end of the first period and then pitched a shutout the rest of the way. The Colonials (4-2) held a 4-3 lead until junior Paul Pickell knotted it at 4-4 with 48 seconds left in the opening period.

UCLA led 9-4 at halftime after receiving two goals from freshman Danny McClintick in the second period. Lathrope, Griffin White and Chris Fahlsing also added a goal in the second period to extend the Bruins' lead.

Lucas Reynolds and Lathrope both scored two goals in the third period for UCLA. The Bruins also got goals from White, Culpan, Chris Wendt and Daniel Lenhart in the third period to push the Bruins' lead to 17-4 through three quarters.

Paul Reynolds, White, Fahlsing and Joey Fuentes each scored one goal for the the Bruins in the fourth period to end the scoring at 22-4.

In the match, the Bruins made both of their penalty shots and converted on 2-of-7 power play opportunities. George Washington was 0-for-2 on its extra man opportunities and won the final sprint after losing the first three. Senior Matt Rapacz started in goal for the Bruins and played the first half while sophomore Stephen White played the second half for UCLA. Rapacz recorded five saves while White registered two stops in the second half. UCLA received goals from 11 different Bruins.
