UCLA Rowing's Varsity Eight Earns Two Wins at Pac-10 Challenge

REDWOOD SHORES, Calif. - The UCLA women's rowing team's varsity eight won two of three races against top-13 competition over the weekend at the Pac-10 Challenge. UCLA finished 3.7 seconds ahead of No. 12 Ohio State on Saturday morning and crossed the finish line 3.0 seconds before No. 13 Clemson on Sunday.

UCLA's varsity eight was edged by No. 6 Virginia in both school's afternoon V8+ race. The Cavaliers finished 5.9 seconds ahead of the Bruins.

The Bruins' second varsity finished second in two races - against Virginia on Saturday and versus Clemson on Sunday morning. The varsity four finished behind Ohio State on Saturday morning.

UCLA's novice eight crew crossed the finish line 11.4 seconds ahead of St. Mary's College's second varsity eight. The Bruins posted a time of 7:10.5 seconds, as St. Mary's crossed the finish line at 7:21.9 seconds.

The Bruins' women's rowing program returns to action next weekend at the annual San Diego Crew Classic (April 4-5).
