Final Stats

LAS VEGAS - UCLA softball posted a pair of victories on Friday at the Louisville Slugger Desert Classic, defeating Colorado State by a score of 10-2 in five innings and downing UCF by a score of 3-0. The Bruins continue tournament action on Saturday night at UNLV's Eller Media Stadium with games against Oklahoma State and the host Rebels.

Game 1: UCLA 10, Colorado State 2 (5 innings)
The Bruin bats started hot as UCLA sent 13 batters to the plate in the opening inning with the first eight batters coming around to score. Freshman 1B Megan Langenfeld had two doubles in the inning, posting two RBI in the frame.

Colorado State answered with a two-run home run in the top of the second inning, bringing the score to 9-2.

UCLA manufactured a 10th run in the fourth inning as Jodie Legaspi notched a two-out single, went to third on a Lisa Dodd single to right center and scored on a double steal.

Three Bruins had multiple hits in the game, including Krista Colburn who was 2-for-2 with two RBI and two runs scored, Langenfeld who had two RBI on as many doubles in three at-bats, and Jaisa Creps who was 2-for-2 with two RBI and a run scored in the game.

Junior pitcher Anjelica Selden earned the victory, her second on the year, pitching five innings and allowing two runs on two hits with three walks and five strikeouts.

Game 2: UCLA 3, UCF 0
Batting as the visiting team, the Bruins loaded the bases in the top of the first inning on a single by Krista Colburn, a fielders choice by Langenfeld with Colburn safe on the play and a walk to Jodie Legaspi. Dodd then hit into a fielders choice with the out at the plate before Kristen Dedmon grounded out to end the inning.

In the top of the third, UCLA put together a one-out rally as Langenfeld pushed a single through the right side of the infield, followed by a four-pitch walk to Legaspi. Dodd then connected on a three-run home run to left field, giving the Bruins a 3-0 lead.

UCF threatened in the bottom of the sixth inning as a one-out error gave the Golden Knights their lead base runner. Breanne Javier followed with a walk to give UCF runners on first and second with one out, but Ashleigh Cole grounded into a fielders choice with the out at second base and Allison Kime fouled out to end the inning and the threat.

Megan Langenfeld earned the victory for UCLA, pitching a three-hit shutout. She struck out five and walked one on the day.
