No. 3 UCLA Women's Water Polo Wins Two Games in Tempe, Ariz.

TEMPE, Ariz. - The No. 3 UCLA women's water polo team secured a pair of wins at Arizona State on Saturday afternoon, defeating ASU, 8-1, in an MPSF match before cruising past Cal Baptist, 17-5 at Mona Plummer Aquatic Center. Senior Grace Reynolds led the Bruins with three goals in the win over ASU.

UCLA (18-3, 1-1 MPSF) never trailed against the Sun Devils (4-7, 0-2 MPSF). The Bruins raced to a 4-0 lead after the first quarter and never looked back. Reynolds scored the first two goals for UCLA, converting on a 6-on-5 opportunity at 6:11 before adding another goal at 5:13. Arizona State scored one goal in the second quarter, trimming UCLA's margin to 4-1 by halftime.

The Bruins held the host Sun Devils scoreless in the final two quarters, outscoring ASU by a 4-0 tally to secure an 8-1 victory. Juniors KK Clark and Hannah Sebenaler each netted two goals and senior Megan Burmeister registered one goal in the win over Arizona State.

Junior goalkeeper Caitlin Dement finished with seven saves in the first half. Freshman goalkeeper Sami Hill totaled six stops in the cage in the final two quarters.

UCLA continued its offensive assault shortly after the win over Arizona State, by securing a 17-5 win over Cal Baptist. Freshman Becca Dorst collected a season-high four goals, while junior Sarah Orozco scored three goals and a trio of Bruins - Reynolds, Sebenaler and sophomore Gisselle Naranjo - each tallied two goals.

The Bruins outscored Cal Baptist, 7-0, in the first quarter and led 10-2 after the first half. UCLA added five more goals in the third quarter to secure a commanding 15-3 lead after three periods. Each team added two goals in the final quarter.

Petra Kovacs led Cal Baptist with four goals, while the Lancers received one goal from Christina Webb.

Dement logged two saves in the first half, while Hill added five stops in the match's final two quarters. Cal Baptist goalkeeper Camryn Rogers netted five saves.

UCLA returns to action against California in an MPSF match on Saturday, March 12. Game time at UCLA's Spieker Aquatics Center is 1 p.m.
