Redshirt junior Vanessa Zamarripa (O'Fallon, IL/O'Fallon Township HS) of the UCLA gymnastics team was selected as the UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for Mar. 19-25.
Zamarripa led UCLA to its 17th conference title, placing second in the all-around at the Pac-12 Championships with a score of 39.575 and winning a share of the vault title with a 9.95. Zamarripa scored a season-high 9.95 on beam in the final rotation to help the Bruins hold off a surging Utah and to push ahead of Stanford. She also added scores of 9.85 on floor and 9.825 on uneven bars to contribute to the Bruins' 197.425 winning team total. Zamarripa's 9.95 vault score helped her regain her No. 1 national ranking on the event.
This is Zamarripa's second UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week honor of the season and sixth of her career.
