Tarzana, Calif. - The No. 1 ranked UCLA women's golf team began the third annual Bruin Wave Invitational by playing 36 holes at El Caballero Country Club in Tarzana, Calif. on Monday and finished the first two rounds in third place.
The Bruins recorded a first round score of 300 (+12) and a second round score of 303 (+15) to give them a total of 603 (+27) for their day. They trail leaders Pepperdine by 15 strokes after the Waves put up 292 (+4) and 296 (+8) for their rounds. Oklahoma State is in second place with a score of 599 (+23) while San Diego State and UNLV rounded out the top five with two-round totals of 607 (+31) and 609 (+33) respectively.
Individually, freshman Erynne Lee is currently in sixth place after she posted a first round 75 (+3) and a second round 73 (+1) to give her an overall score of 148 (+4). Junior Tiffany Lua is right behind her in seventh place after shooting 73 (+1) and 76 (+4) for her first two rounds, giving her a total of 149 (+5). Junior Lee Lopez is also in the top 10, sitting in a tie for ninth place with scores of 76 (+4) and 75 (+3), giving her a tournament score of 151 (+7). Finally, sophomore Ani Gulugian recorded a first round 76 (+4) and a second round 79 (+7) to finish the day tied for 25th at 155 (+11).
Christine Wong of San Diego State has the individual lead after two rounds with a score of 141 (-3).
The tournament will conclude tomorrow after a final round of 18 holes.
