LOS ANGELES - The UCLA men's and women's tennis teams each received top 16 seeds for the 2011 NCAA Tennis Championships on Tuesday and have been selected to host regional action beginning on May 13 at the Los Angeles Tennis Center.
The 12th-seeded UCLA men (16-6) open up the tournament against America East champion Binghamton (12-13) on Friday, May 13 at 1:00 p.m. The other first-round match that day features SEC power Ole Miss (12-9) taking on Big West champion UC Irvine (19-7) at 10:00 a.m. Friday's winners will meet in the second round on Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
The sixth-seeded Bruin women (18-5) will take on Northeast Conference champion Quinnipiac on Saturday, May 14 at Noon. Prior to that match, San Diego (18-5) faces UNLV (20-5) at 9:00 a.m. The women's second-round will take place on Sunday at Noon.
Teams that advance through regional play will earn a trip to the NCAA Round of 16, May 19-25, in Stanford, Calif.
Tickets for next week's NCAA Regionals can be purchased upon entrance to the Los Angeles Tennis Center (there are no advanced ticket sales). Prices are $7 for adults and $5 for youth/students.
