The top-ranked UCLA women's golf team begins the 2010-11 season Monday at the Fall Preview, hosted by Texas A&M at the Traditions Club in Bryan, TX.

Eighteen of the nation's best teams will compete at the site of 2011 NCAA Championship, scheduled for May 17-20. The Traditions Club will play to a par of 72 over 6,271 yards.

In the latest GolfWeek collegiate team rankings, the Bruins topped the list, followed by second-ranked Arizona State and No. 3 USC. UCLA junior Stephanie Kono is ranked seventh nationally among individuals behind No. 2 Cydney Clayton of Auburn, No. 5 Marina Alex of Vanderbilt and sixth-ranked Arizona State's Jennifer Johnson.

The Bruins' lineup this week is a mixture of veterans and youth, and plenty of talent. Head Coach Carrie Forsyth, entering her 12th season, will travel one freshman, two sophomores a junior and a senior. Freshman Ani Gulugian, an AJGA All-American, will be making her first start in a UCLA uniform. Second-team All-American Tiffany Lua will play in the top spot and third-year sophomore Lee Lopez, the 2009 Big West Freshman of the Year at Long Beach State, also will make her first appearance as a Bruin. Kono, a junior, is a two-time consensus All-American and a solid contender for individual honors at this event. Finally, senior Glory Yang enters this tournament with 32 career starts.

"We're excited to start our season this week," said Forsyth. "The Fall Preview is a very strong tournament and it is a good way to evaluate our strengths and weaknesses as a team. Traditions Golf Club is an excellent course and will it is sure to be a wonderful championship."
