Los Angeles, Calif. - UCLA scored six first-half goals, and junior midfielder Jenna Richmond tied the school record for assists in a game with three as UCLA routed Princeton, 7-0 in the second game of the UCLA Soccer Classic at Drake Stadium.

The Bruins struck early and often in the first half, scoring six goals - two each from Taylor Smith and Zakiya Bywaters and one apiece from Samantha Mewis and Taylor Alderete. Smith got the scoring party started at 6:28, knocking in a long-range shot into the upper left corner off a pass from Richmond to record her first collegiate goal. Defender Lucretia Lee also earned an assist on the play.

Mewis, fresh off a win at the FIFA U-20 World Cup, quickly made it 2-0, recording her first goal of the season in her first game back from national team duty. After receiving a cross into the box from Kristiana Konkol-Mroczkowski, Mewis found the back of the net, going near post at 17:39. She would finish her first game of the collegiate season with a goal and two assists.

Smith made it 3-0 just four minutes later, tapping in a through ball from Richmond at 21:37. Bywaters also recorded an assist on Smith's second goal and then scored one of her own at 23:33, chipping over the goalkeeper to increase UCLA's lead to 4-0. Richmond picked up her record-tying third assist, along with Sarah Killion in her first game back from U.S. U-20 World Cup action.

Bywaters was not finished, however. At 25:54, she netted her second goal of the game and fourth of the season on a breakaway, scoring far post unassisted to put UCLA up 5-0.

Alderete finished off the first-half scoring in the 39th minute, recording her first collegiate goal by knocking in the rebound of Kodi Lavrusky's shot that hit the post. Mewis also earned an assist on the play.

In the second half, Rosie White scored her third goal of the year, lining a shot from the middle to the far post at 75:03. Chelsea Stewart and Mewis recorded the assists.

UCLA goalkeeper Katelyn Rowland did not allow a goal in one half of play, extending her shutout streak to 513 minutes. Rowland has yet to give up a goal in 2012. Alana Munger played 45 shutout minutes for the Bruins in the second half and made one save. The Bruin defense allowed just five shots in the game, while the offense totaled 26. Princeton goalkeeper Claire Pinciaro made 10 saves.

The Bruins (6-0-1) will next face 18th-ranked Pepperdine (6-2-0), who defeated UC Irvine in the first game of the Classic, 4-0. The UCLA-Pepperdine match will take place on Sunday, Sept. 16 at 7pm, after Princeton (2-2-1) takes on UC Irvine (3-6-0) at 4pm.
