Los Angeles, Calif. - The 16th-ranked UCLA men's soccer team closed out the regular season with a convincing 3-1 victoy over San Diego at Frank W. Marshall Field. The Bruins scored the first three goals of the game, and forwards Jason Leopoldo and David Estrada each netted a goal and an assist.

Leopoldo broke a scoreless tie at 41:35 on a second-chance shot. After his initial shot hit the post, he followed through on the rebound and scored his sixth goal of the season to make the score 1-0. Seven minutes into the second half, Leopoldo earned an assist, setting up Estrada, who struck a sharp-angled shot from the right side into the back of the net at the 52:16 mark. Estrada's goal was his team-leading eighth of the season and increased his scoring streak to four consecutive games. He has scored a goal in seven of the Bruins' last eight games.

Freshman midfielder Kyle Nakazawa put the Bruins up, 3-0, at 63:22 on a close-range shot. Senior defender Kiel McClung set up the play with a long pass down the right side to Estrada. Estrada juked San Diego goalkeeper Lance Friesz in the box then passed to Nakazawa for the goal, Nakazawa's third of the year.

San Diego scored at 71:44 on a perfectly struck 25-yard shot by Michael Caso into the right corner after a failed UCLA clearance to make the score 3-1, and the Toreros had a chance to cut the lead to 3-2 in the 78th minute. Caso took a shot that was heading towards the open net, but Bruin defender Greg Folk raced back and got a foot on the ball to poke it out of harm's way. Caso ran into bad luck earlier in the game when his header went off the left post in the 15th minute.

UCLA senior goalkeeper Eric Reed earned the victory, making two saves on the day. Friesz also had two saves for the Toreros.

The Bruins finish the regular season with a 10-5-4 record and went 6-2-2 in their last 10 games. San Diego wraps up the regular season with a 10-8-1 record.
