The men's track and field team had some solid performances on Saturday in both San Luis Obispo and Austin, TX as athletes competed at the Cal Poly Invitational and Texas Relays.
In San Luis Obispo, Steven Taylor led the way as he posted a win in the triple jump with a mark of 47-11.50. Scott DiCesare cleared a season-best 15-11.50 to finish third in the pole vault. DJ Lloyd made his Bruin debut in the long jump, placing eighth overall with a mark of 21-3.
In Austin at the Texas Relays, Marlon Patterson finished second in the mile with a lifetime-best run of 4:05.37. The DMR team of Cory Primm, Maxwell Dyce, Jonathan Simmons and Scott Crawford finished fourth overall with a time of 9:48.15.
In field events, Casey DiCesare cleared a lifetime-best 17-5 in the pole vault to finish tied for sixth overall. Johnny Quinn also cleared 17-5, a season-best for the junior, but placed eighth based on misses.
The Bruins will next host the Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner Kersee Invitational April 8-10.
