Former four-time UCLA All-America setter Brandon Taliaferro earned a spot on the U.S. National Team this week and will travel to Japan for the 2006 FIVB Men's World Volleyball Championships, Nov. 17-Dec. 3.
Taliaferro lettered from 1997-2000 and led the Bruins to a pair of NCAA titles. In three of those seasons, UCLA advanced to the championship match.
As a senior in 2000, Taliaferro was voted the Asics/Volleyball Magazine Player of the Year as the Bruins posted a 29-5 record and won the conference championship on their way to the program's 18th NCAA title.
The 6-5 Taliaferro ended his career as UCLA's all-time leader with 6,840 set assists.
Taliaferro, 29, previously was a member of the U.S. National Team from 2000-03 before entering private business.
