Mustafa Abdul-Hamid tore a ligament in his right wrist in practice in October. He had surgery on Dec. 23 to repair the damage and is out the rest of the season. Malcolm Lee had a MRI on his left knee on Dec. 27, which was inconclusive, and has missed the Bruins' last four games. He is probable for Thursday's game vs. Arizona. J'mison Morgan strained his left groin at Oregon and is questionable for the Arizona game.

This is the 107th meeting between UCLA and Washington State with the Bruins leading the series 93-13. UCLA has won the last eight meetings, including the last 15 meetings at WSU. UCLA is 41-8 against the Cougars all-time in Pullman, Wash. UCLA won last year's meeting at Friel Court 67-59 on Feb. 7, 2008. Darren Collison scored all of his 18 points in the decisive second half and Kevin Love added 16 points and nine rebounds. Kyle Weaver scored 13 points and Aron Baynes added 11 for the Cougars. Head Coach Ben Howland is 9-1 against WSU while Tony Bennett is 0-4 against UCLA.

UCLA dropped four spots in both polls this week, falling to No. 11 in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll and No. 13 in the Associated Press poll, released on Jan. 19, 2009. UCLA has been ranked in the top 25 in the Associated Press poll for 67 straight weeks (since the 2005-06 preseason rankings) and in the top 25 in the Coaches Poll for 69 straight weeks (since the final poll of 2004-05), which is the longest streak in the nation.

Ben Howland earned his 300th victory of his career with the 72-54 win over DePaul in the 15th Annual John R. Wooden Classic (Dec. 13, 2008). He is currently 308-147 (.677), which ranks 25th on the winningest active coaches list by percentage and 68th on the active list by victories. Howland's first career victory was his first game at Northern Arizona in 1994, a 71-69 victory over New Mexico Highlands. His 100th career victory came in his second season at Pittsburgh with the 77-65 win at home over Seton Hall (Jan. 13, 2001). His 200th win came in his third season at UCLA with the 56-37 home win over Delaware State (Nov. 19, 2005).

Darren Collison extended his UCLA record of consecutive made free throws to 43 before missing at USC on Jan. 11, 2009. He surpassed Henry Bibby's streak of 36 straight (1972) at Oregon (Jan. 4).
