Vanden Berge Wins 1500m Freestyle At Santa Clara International Grand Prix

Senior-to-be Sam Vanden Berge notched the first Grand Prix win of her career on Thursday as she won the 1500m freestyle in Santa Clara at the International meet.

Vanden Berge, who earned honorable mention All-America honors this past season with a 13th-place finish in the mile at NCAAs, won on Thursday with a time of 16:51.63.

Sophomore-to-be Briana Meyer finished 13th, also in the 1500m, with a time of 17:37.02.

Lauren Hall (200 breast/400 free), Brittany Beauchan (200 breast), Dani Milligan (200 breast/400 free), Alex Sullivan (400 free), Vanden Berge (400 free), Yasi Jahanshahi (400 free/100 fly), Bianca Casciari (100 fly), Kelsey Louden (100 fly), Emily Andelson (100 fly) and Kirsten Byers (100 fly) will compete today on day two of the meet.
