Woepse had a rough start to his competition in the pole vault. After passing three bars, he entered the meet at 16-10.25 and opened with two straight misses. Needing a clutch clearance on his final attempt at the bar, Woepse sailed over and continued in the competition. He then cleared the next bar, 17-2.25, on his first attempt and moved into first-place. Woepse could not clear the next bar at 17-6.25 and finished the competition in third, the highest finish of his career at the conference meet.
The second podium finish came from redshirt-freshman Eager who placed third in the javelin competition with a throw of 223-9. Junior Carlo Valdes finished 11th with a mark of 196-0.
The 4x100m relay team of Jamal Alston, Maxwell Dyce, R.J. Frasier and Laijon White won heat one in a time of 39.99 to automatically advance to Sunday's final. Their time ranked second overall. Dyce also advanced to the 200m final after posting the seventh-fastest time in prelims (20.94). White finished 17th in a season-best time of 21.59.
Frasier then went on to compete in the 400m hurdles where he finished second in heat three in a time of 51.76. He posted the fourth-fastest time of the day and advances to Sunday's final.
Senior decathlete David Thomas had a big day in the pole vault as he cleared a lifetime-best of 16-4.50 to finish sixth overall. Thomas cleared the first three bars on his first attempt, but bowed out of the competition with the bar at 17-2.50. Freshman Mark Sakioka was seventh as he also cleared 16-4.50, while redshirt freshman Scott Cook finished 11th with a clearance of 15-10.50.
In the steeplechase final, senior Kent Morikawa had a huge day as he ran over a 10-second lifetime-best to finish fifth overall. His time of 8:57.02 improved upon his previous best of 9:08.28 and was his highest finish at the conference meet in any event. Fellow senior Dylan Knight finished eighth overall with a time of 9:04.09, picking up another point for the Bruins. Junior David McDonald finished 11th with a time of 9:10.46.
Frosh Pete Lauderdale was fourth in heat one of the 400m with a season-best of 47.80 and advanced to the finals eighth overall. Sean Burd was 10th (48.33), while White was 17th (52.94). Neither Burd nor White advance to the finals.
Junior Dominic Giovannoni, who placed fifth in the Pac-12 Decathlon last weekend, finished 10th overall and fourth in heat two (14.69) of the 110m hurdles. He does not advance to finals.
Senior Jamal Alston finished fourth in heat two and 14th overall in the 100m with a season-best run of 10.57 and will not advance to finals.
In the 1500m, sophomore Philip MacQuitty finished ninth in heat one and 16th overall (3:53.25) and does not advance to Sunday's final. Senior Jonathan Simmons finished fifth in heat two and 10th overall in the 800m (1:52.08). He does not advance as well.
Senior Mark Weber finished fourth in the shot put, his highest finish ever in the conference meet, with a throw of 54-00.50. The highest he had ever placed prior to this weekend's meet was ninth in 2009. Junior Nigel Davies finished sixth with a throw of 53-3.50.
In the long jump, senior Taylor Hobson finished 13th with a mark of 23-8. He then went on to compete in the high jump. He cleared the opening height of 6-7 on his first attempt and then 6-9 on his second try. He could not clear 6-11 and finished in a tie for 12th overall.
