The UCLA men's golf Gold Team captured its first tournament title of 2007 and sophomore Lucas Lee won his second individual crown in two weeks at the Southern Highlands Collegiate Invitational near Las Vegas, NV.
UCLA posted the day's low score -- a one-under par 287 -- for a 54-hole total of 874 (+10), three shots in front of top-ranked Georgia, which led the tournament after 36 holes. Arizona placed third at 885 (+21), followed by fourth-place UNLV at 886 (+22) and fifth-place Minnesota at 888 (+24).
UCLA sophomore Lucas Lee won his second event in as many weeks, capturing the title with an even par round of 72 for a three-round total of 213 (-3). Last week, Lee won the Braveheart Classic. The Southern Highlands title was the fourth of Lee's UCLA career.
Junior Kevin Chappell placed ninth at 218 (+2) after posting a 72 (E) and sophomore Erik Flores tied for 13th at 221 (+5) after carding a 69 (-3). Sophomore James Lee posted a 74 (+2) to tie for 34th at 226 (+10) and junior Daniel Im tied for 39th at 227 (+11).
