The UCLA swimming and diving team will begin competition at the Pac-10 Championships on Wednesday in Federal Way, WA as the postseason begins. Swimming events run Wednesday through Saturday, while diving events are held Thursday through Saturday. The meet will be held at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center.
The Bruins head to Washington with high hopes of improving on times and scores to qualify as many women as possible for the NCAA Championships. Senior Madeleine Stanton looks to be a definite competitor at NCAAs as she ranks in the top-25 nationally in both the 100 and 200 backstroke events. The divers have four women qualified for the NCAA Zone meet (Marisa Samaniego, Tess Schofield, Brittany Hill and Alyssa Robinson), and will look to battle for Pac-10 titles on all three disciplines.
This year's team only has eight senior swimmers and divers, but a talented group of youngsters have stepped up and developed nicely throughout the season. At Pac-10s, the Bruins will look for the youth of this team to really step up and help the team score in all events.
UCLA has been fourth the past two seasons as Arizona has won the team crown for three consecutive seasons.
