STOCKTON, Calif. -- The No. 2 UCLA men's water polo team posted a 13-10 win at No. 7 Pacific on Sunday afternoon at Chris Kjeldsen Aquatics Complex. The Bruins improved to 24-2 overall and 6-0 in MPSF play while the Tigers dropped to 12-7 overall and 3-3 in league action.

Senior Josh Samuels led the Bruins with three goals. Four other Bruins netted two goals apiece. Senior goalkeeper Matt Rapacz blocked 12 shots in four quarters of work.

Pacific took an early 1-0 lead behind a goal from Kevin Oliveira just 23 seconds into the match. The Bruins would rip off three consecutive goals to go up 3-1 with scores from Griffin White (3:47), Danny McClintick (3:17) and Daniel Lenhart (2:31). Pacific ended the first quarter scoring with goals from Petrovic and Alex Obert to even the match at 3-3 after the first period.

The second quarter saw neither team able to break away from the other. Erdelyi gave Pacific a 4-3 lead with 4:52 on the clock but the Bruins answered on their next possession with a score from Bret Lathrope (4:25). UCLA regained the lead at the 3:42 mark on a power-play goal by Paul Reynolds. But Oneto would score on a power play goal for Pacific a minute later to tie the game at 5-5. The Bruins responded on their ensuing opportunity to go up by one, 6-5, on a goal from Aimone Barabino (2:27) and would hold that lead as the game went into intermission.

Coming out of halftime, UCLA went on the attack, notching the first three goals of the frame to take a 9-5 lead. The Bruin seniors went to work as Samuels scored back-to-back goals (7:14 and 6:34), followed by a goal from White (5:37). Petrovic stopped the Bruins' run with a power-play goal at the 5:00 mark, but UCLA again had an answer to go back up by four with another score from Reynolds (4:39). After the two squads traded a pair of goals (Petrovic scored a hat trick at 4:24 and Barabino picked up his second of the day at 2:20), Casey Fleming scored with 43 seconds left to make it 11-8, UCLA. But the Bruins' Lenhart would sneak one past Malkis with two seconds on the clock, giving the Bruins a 12-8 lead with one quarter left to play.

UCLA slowed down the tempo in the fourth period as the Tigers' offense was stymied by solid play from the Bruins' defense. Samuels scored his third goal of the match with 3:00 on the clock to give the Bruins their largest lead of the game at 13-8. Pacific got late goals from Erdelyi and Petrovic but were unable to mount a comeback as the Bruins earned the win, snapping the Tigers' modest three-game winning streak, while extending theirs to 10 games.

Petrovic led all scorers with a career-high-tying four goals for the Tigers as Balazs Erdelyi added a pair of scores for the Tigers.

The Bruins converted on 2-of-5 power plays while the Tigers went 5-for-10.

Rapacz played the entire game, picking up 12 saves. Alex Malkis was credited with eight saves for Pacific.

The Bruins end the regular season next week with back-to-back live television games at USC on Nov. 17 at 4:30 p.m. (Pac-12 Networks) and then host the UC Irvine Anteaters the following day at 10:30 a.m. (Pac-12 LA).
