UCLA All-American Tiffany Joh has been selected to play on the 2008 Curtis Cup team, the United States Golf Assn. announced this week. She is one of four USGA champions on the eight-player team, which will compete against a similar amateur team from Great Britain & Ireland, May 30-June 1 at the Old Course in St. Andrews, Scotland.
Joh, 21, won the 2006 U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links title at Walking Stick Golf Course in Pueblo, CO. Last April she won the Pac-10 title in a playoff and in November, she shared medalist honors at the Kent Youel Invitational in Hawai'i. She earned All-America honors last season and as a freshman in 2006.
She becomes the first UCLA golfer since Cindy Scholefield in 1988 to earn a spot on the Curtis Cup team.
Joh joins 2006 U.S. Women's Amateur champion Kimberly Kim, 2007 U.S. Women's Amateur Publinks champion Mina Harigae and two-time U.S. Women's Mid-Amateur winner Meghan Bolger in the group of former USGA champions. This quartet will be complemented by 2007 NCAA champion Stacy Lewis, 2006 Curtis Cup members Amanda Blumenherst and Jenny Lee, and Allison Walshe, 22, of Westford, MA.
