LOS ANGELES - The UCLA women's rowing program opens its spring season against Loyola Marymount in Marina del Rey, Calif., on Saturday morning. Following the morning races, UCLA will host a social on campus for its student-athletes, alumnae and their families.
UCLA finished No. 12 nationally at the NCAA Championships in 2010 and seeks a second consecutive berth at the NCAA Championships this spring. The Bruins will race two varsity eight crews, one varsity four (against the Long Beach Rowing Association), one open four and one novice eight.
One year, ago the Bruins kicked off their spring schedule with victories in each race against Loyola Marymount in the season opener.
The Karen Hock Helm Cup will be presented to the school that wins the women's varsity eight race.
Below is a complete listing of times for Saturday's races and post-competition events.
Fans should make note that UCLA's race against San Diego State the following weekend in Marina del Rey, Calif., has moved to Sunday, March 13 (previously scheduled for Saturday, March 12).
