Pac-10 Race Heats Up for No. 9 Bruins This Week
The ninth-ranked UCLA women's tennis team (14-4; 3-0 Pac-10) has its toughest road trip of the season this week, traveling to the Bay Area for matches against No. 6 Cal (13-3; 4-0 Pac-10) and No. 5 Stanford (13-4; 3-1 Pac-10). Action gets underway on Friday at 1:30 p.m., as the Bruins will be looking to avenge a 4-3 loss to the Bears earlier in the season. UCLA will then take on Stanford, a team it beat 5-2 back on Feb. 29, on Saturday at Noon. Unlike the earlier meetings with these two teams, both of this week's matches will count in the Pac-10 standings.

Bruins Blank Hawai'i, Oregon
UCLA didn't drop a single point in two matches last week, posting a pair of shutouts over both Hawai'i and Oregon. The Bruins started the week in Honolulu, taking a 7-0 victory over the Rainbow Wahine after winning all six singles matches in straight sets. UCLA nearly duplicated that feat against Oregon at home on Saturday, winning five of six singles matches in straight sets in the 7-0 conference win.

Sampras Webster Nets Win No. 200
UCLA head coach Stella Sampras Webster recorded the 200th victory of her coaching career in the Bruins' 7-0 victory over Oregon last Saturday. Sampras Webster, who is in her 12th season as head coach, currently owns a 200-102 overall record.

UCLA Checks in at No. 9 This Week
UCLA is ranked No. 9 in the latest team rankings released by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association on Tuesday. New singles and doubles rankings were also released, as Riza Zalameda is the Bruins' highest ranked singles player at No. 11. She is followed by No. 43 Tracy Lin, No. 48 Yasmin Schnack, No. 52 Andrea Remynse and No. 94 Elizabeth Lumpkin. In doubles, Zalameda is ranked in the top 20 with two different players (#9 w/Lin, #19 w/Schnack). Lin is also ranked No. 50 with Remynse. Lumpkin and Stephanie Wetmore are ranked No. 59.

Lumpkin Approaching 30-Win Mark
With her next victory, senior Elizabeth Lumpkin will be the first Bruin player to reach the 30-win mark in singles play this season. Lumpkin, who is 17-1 in dual-match play, owns a 29-8 overall record. The next UCLA player who will likely reach 30 singles wins is freshman Andrea Remynse, who currently owns a 26-7 overall record.

Zalameda's Ranked Wins
Senior Riza Zalameda owns a 10-5 record against ranked singles players this season. Her record against top 10 players stands at 3-1, as she has defeated No. 3 Melanie Gloria (Fresno State), No. 4 Ani Mijacika (Clemson) and No. 7 Susie Babos (Cal). Her lone top 10 loss came against No. 1 Aurelija Miseviciute (Arkansas). Zalameda takes a four-match winning streak against ranked players into this Friday's match. Bruins to Close out Regular Season at Home
Following this weekend's matches up north, UCLA will have just three regular-season matches remaining, all at home. The Bruins will host Arizona (4/11) and Arizona State (4/12), before rounding out the season against cross-town rival USC (4/18). The Bruins could host at least two more home matches at the LATC in the postseason, however, as UCLA will likely be selected as one of the 16 host sites for NCAA Regional play.

Head Coach Stella Sampras Webster
UCLA head coach Stella Sampras Webster is in her 12th season at the helm of the Bruin women's tennis program. Sampras Webster, who has guided the Bruins to a pair of appearances in the NCAA Final (2004 and 2007), owns a 200-102 overall coaching record. She has also led UCLA to six top-five finishes at the NCAA Championships.
