Los Angeles, Calif. - The No. 13 ranked UCLA varsity-eight crew earned an at-large bid to compete at the 2007 NCAA Women's Rowing Championships in Oak Ridge, Tenn., on May 25-27. The NCAA selection marks UCLA's third consecutive championship appearance.
UCLA's varsity eight is coming off of a solid performance at the Pac-10 Championships, where it finished fourth behind nationally ranked USC, Stanford, and California. The Bruins as a team also finished fourth in the point standings in the 13-team field.
The NCAA selects only four at-large bids for the eight-women championships to compete against the 12 team selections who field two eight-women boats and a four-women crew.
UCLA and Stanford each received one of the four at-large bids. USC, two-time defending champion California, and Washington garnered team selections, making the Pac-10 and Ivy League the best represented conferences with five schools each.
