Senior Megan Langenfeld (Bakersfield, CA/Centennial HS) of the UCLA softball team was selected as the UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for Feb. 15-21.
Langenfeld hit .722 (13-for-18) in seven games last week, recording 12 runs scored, 13 runs batted in and four home runs to help the fourth-ranked Bruins to a 7-0 record. She also had a 1.444 slugging percentage and a .792 on base percentage.
On Wednesday, the Bruins swept a doubleheader at UC Santa Barbara. Langenfeld went 2-for-3 with three runs scored, an RBI single and a solo home run in the first game and 1-for-1 with three runs scored, an RBI and two walks in the nightcap.
At the Stacy Winsberg Memorial Tournament at Easton Stadium this weekend, Langenfeld had multiple hits in the Bruins' last four games. She went 3-for-3 and hit a grand slam against Cal Poly on Friday. The senior posted a pair of two-hit efforts against UC Davis and Cal State Northridge on Saturday. She had an RBI against the Aggies and scored twice, drove in two and homered again versus the Matadors. Langenfeld closed out the weekend with a 3-for-4 effort against Portland State on Sunday, scoring twice, driving in three and hitting her fourth homer of the week.
In the circle, Langenfeld tossed seven innings over two games. On Saturday against UC Davis, she pitched six shutout innings, allowing only three hits and a walk with six strikeouts. The senior also hurled one shutout inning of relief against Portland State on Sunday, giving up a hit and fanning one.
This is Langenfeld's first UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week honor of the season and third of her career.
