UCLA improved to 5-0 in home and season openers under head coach Ben Howland with the 69-48 win over Portland State on Nov. 9, 2007. Coach Howland announced on a teleconference call on Nov. 11 that junior point guard Darren Collison would not play in the two games this week of the O'Reilly Auto Parts CBE Classic.

NATIONAL POLLS
UCLA sports a preseason ranking of No. 2 in both the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll and the Associated Press poll, marking the third straight season that the Bruins are ranked in the preseason polls. It also marks the highest preseason ranking for the Bruins in 27 years. The 1981-82 squad opened its season with a No. 2 ranking and a home loss unranked BYU 75-79 on Nov. 27, 1981.

HOME SWEET HOME
The Bruins are 580-87 (.870) all-time in Pauley Pavilion and have won their last 21 home games, which is tied with Florida for the sixth-longest home court winning streak in the nation. The last team to beat UCLA at home was 12th-ranked West Virginia, which beat the 18th-ranked Bruins 60-56 on Jan. 21, 2006.
