Ojai, Calif. - UCLA's Yasmin Schnack has a chance to capture both the main draw singles and doubles titles at the 110th Ojai Valley Championships on Sunday, as she headlines a strong contingent of Bruin players who are on the verge of titles.
Schnack, the No. 2 seed in the main singles draw, defeated sixth-seeded Mari Andersson of Cal, 7-5, 6-2 in the semifinals on Saturday. She will meet top-seeded Hilary Barte of Stanford in the final on Sunday at 9:30 a.m. Barte advanced with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Cal's Marina Cossou in their semifinal showdown.
Schnack and Barte will also face off in Sunday's doubles final at 12:30 p.m. Schnack and partner Andrea Remynse are seeded second, while Barte and Lindsay Burdette are the No. 1 seeds.
UCLA is guaranteed itself of a title in the Invitational singles draw, as Carling Seguso and Nina Pantic will square off in the final at 8:00 a.m. Like Schnack, Seguso has the chance at a pair of titles in Ojai, as she and partner Stephanie Hoffpauir will meet Washington's Aleksandra Malovic and Samantha Smith in the Invitational doubles final at 11:00 a.m.
The UCLA men will also be vying for a pair of titles in Ojai on Sunday, with fourth-seeded Amit Inbar and Nick Meister looking to claim the doubles championship over top-seeded Robert Farah and Steve Johnson of USC. That match is set to begin at 2:00 p.m. Alex Brigham is also in the Invitational singles final, facing USC's JT Sundling at 9:30 a.m.
