Emily Feher, UCLA's starting women's water polo goalie, was named MPSF Mikasa Player of the Week for her stellar effort in the Bruins 8-7 victory over cross-town rival USC.
Playing in the last home game of her career, Feher made ten saves in the match, with seven coming in the second half to preserve UCLA's late game lead. She seemed to stopped everything thrown at her in the late stages of the hard-fought game. USC's only goal of the fourth quarter came off a five-meter penalty shot. The seven goals is the lowest scoring total of the season for the Women of Troy, and nearly half of their season scoring average.
This is the first MPSF Player of the Week award for a Bruin this season. Feher was named Co-Player of the Week in March of 2005 for allowing only fifteen goals in a four-game stretch.
