MARINA DEL REY, Calif. - The UCLA women's rowing program had a competitive weekend of fall head racing, taking part in the Head of the Marina on Saturday and the Newport Autumn Rowing Festival on Sunday.
UCLA raced in eight pairs, three fours, one open eight and one novice eight at Saturday's Head of the Marina in Marina del Rey, Calif. The Bruins' open eight defeated both crews from San Diego, posting an adjusted final time of 0:18:51.00
UCLA's novice eight finished second to San Diego's boat. Three of the Bruins' eight pairs finished first, second and fourth, respectively, out of 14 total entries. UCLA's three fours crossed the finish line first, second and fifth, out of seven crews.
At the Newport Autumn Rowing Festival on Sunday, UCLA raced in three varsity eights, four varsity fours and one novice eight.
UCLA's `A' eight crew posted the top time, while the `C' crew finished second and the `B' crew logged a fourth-place finish. The Bruins' trio of four crews also had similar success, posting finishes of first, second and sixth place out of 20 total entries.
The Bruins' novice eight crew finished second out of 17 total entries.
The UCLA women's rowing program opens its spring season with a dual race against Loyola Marymount in Marina del Rey, Calif.
