Bruin Divers Have Strong First Day at Stanford Invitational

The UCLA divers had a strong opening day at the Stanford Invitational in Palo Alto as four Bruins competed in the three-meter final. Freshman Emma Ivory-Ganja led the way as she finished fourth overall with a score of 291.25. She was third after the prelim round with a total score of 266.00.

Junior Maggy Boyd was fifth after the prelim round with a score of 258.80 and then finished sixth in the final with a score of 245.65. Junior Paulina Guzman moved up from eighth in the prelim (228.15) to seventh in the final with a score of 245.60.

Sophomore Michelle Vale, who was competing in her first college meet since the 2009-2010 season, was seventh after prelims (239.45) and then fell one spot to eighth in the final (232.75).

Sophomore Haley McNamara was ninth after the prelim round (226.15) and advanced to the consol final. She then finished third in the consol and 11th overall with a score of 241.40.

The Bruins will return to action on Saturday in Palo Alto as the one-meter competition is on tap.
