LOS ANGELES - Junior Ben Hohl of the UCLA men's water polo team has earned ESPN the Magazine second-team Academic All-District acclaim, as announced last week. Hohl, awarded in the men's at-large division, has scored 100 career goals in three seasons while compiling a 3.68 cumulative GPA.
Hohl, who secured second-team All-America honors in February following a fantastic 2009 season, will return in 2010 as the Bruins' leading scorer. The left-handed attacker from Atherton, Calif., posted a perfect 4.0 GPA in the fall 2009 quarter.
Last season, Hohl finished second on the team with 40 goals, leading UCLA to a runner-up finish at the NCAA Tournament. The Bruins won the 2009 MPSF Tournament, advancing to the NCAA Championships for the first time since 2004.
Hohl has twice been named a second-team All-MPSF Academic honoree (2008, 2009).
UCLA's men's water polo team finished 23-7 overall in the fall of 2009.
