Tennis Teams Headed to Ojai
Members of the UCLA men's and women's tennis teams will be seeking individual titles this week when they head to Ojai, Calif. for the 2010 Pac-10 Championships, April 22-25. The men's tournament takes place at Libbey Park in downtown Ojai, while the women begin play at the Ojai Valley Athletic Club before heading over to Libbey Park on the weekend. Draws are expected to be released shortly. For more information about the tournament, please visit www.ojaitourney.org or Pac-10 Tournament Central
Women Still in Pac-10 Title Contention
The UCLA women will be rooting hard for their cross-town rivals this Wednesday in Ojai, as USC faces Stanford in a make-up match that could give the Bruins a share of this year's Pac-10 title. A USC victory would drop the Cardinal to 7-1 in the league standings meaning that the Bruins, at 6-1, will earn a share of this year's conference title with a win over Cal on Wednesday. The UCLA-Cal match was originally scheduled for April 2 in the Bay Area but was postponed due to rain. The two teams will only face off if USC beats Stanford. The Stanford-USC match is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. (doubles only), followed by the UCLA-Cal match (full match) at 1:00 p.m. Both contests will take place at the Ojai Valley Athletic Club.
Men Conclude Regular Season
The UCLA men had their regular season come to an abrupt end on Tuesday, as their final scheduled match against San Diego was unfortunately canceled due to rain. The Bruins end the regular season with a 14-6 overall record. UCLA's 4-2 record in Pac-10 play was good enough for second place, just behind co-champions Stanford and USC (both finished 5-1).
New Rankings Released on Tuesday
Women on the Verge of 20
At 19-3 overall, the UCLA women are on the verge of reaching the 20-win mark for the third time in the last four years. The Bruins have already equaled their 2009 total, as last year's team finished 19-7 overall.
