The UCLA cross country teams will split this weekend for the Pre-National Invitational in Terre Haute, IN and the Cal Poly Invitational in San Luis Obispo in the final tune-up before the post-season begins.
The men's team will send seven athletes to Terre Haute, IN for the biggest test of the season. They will get to test out the same course the NCAA Championships will be contested on and will look to make a move into the top-25 rankings. Heading to Terre Haute are - seniors Alex Crabill, Marco Anzures and Marlon Patterson; juniors Kevin Sullivan and Jake Matthews; sophomore Spencer Knight; and freshman Zack Torres.
The Pre-National Invite features 147 total teams and eight of the top 10 men's teams in the U.S.
Eight men and women will head north to San Luis Obispo for the Cal Poly Invitational. Competing for the women are - juniors Rosa Magana, Shannon Murakami and Kelcie Wiemann; sophomores Taryn Pastoor, Sadee Martinez and Katja Goldring; and freshmen Heather Balbier and Allison Lopez. Heading to SLO for the men's team are - juniors Scott Crawford and Cory Primm; sophomores David McDonald and Martin Mwangi; and freshmen Alec Covi, Steven Norton, Jonathan Simmons and Mohamed Abdalla.
The Cal Poly Invite features Cal Poly SLO, UC Irvine and the Bruins
These two meets will mark the end to the regular season as the Pac-10 Championships kick off the post-season on Oct. 30 in Long Beach.
