LOS ANGELES - After moving through qualifying at last month's ITA Kick-Off Weekend, the UCLA men's and women's tennis teams are now ready to begin their quests for national indoor titles this week, as both teams are competing at the ITA National Team Indoor Championships beginning this Friday at both the University of Virginia and the University of Wisconsin.
The MenThe UCLA men (2-0) are seeded No. 4 in this year's tournament, which is being held at the Boars Head Sports Club in Charlottesville, Va. The Bruins open up play against No. 13 Kentucky (6-1) on Friday at 3:30 p.m. (PST). If UCLA wins that match, they will meet the winner of No. 5 Tennessee and No. 12 Illinois in the quarterfinals on Saturday at Noon (PST). The Bruins are seven-time winners at the ITA National Team Indoors, last taking the trophy in 2001. The team's best finish since that title is a runner-up showing in 2004.

The WomenIn a re-match of last year's NCAA Round of 16, the Bruin women (5-0) open up their ITA National Team Indoors against No. 6 Miami (3-1) on Friday at 1:30 p.m. (PST). A win would earn the team a quarterfinal showdown with either No. 3 Cal or Georgia Tech on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. (PST). Although UCLA ranks fifth all-time in total ITA National Team Indoor wins with 25, the team has never captured the title at the event, finishing runner-up on two occasions (1990 & 1995). This is the 23rd year in a row that University of Wisconsin has hosted the event. It takes place annually at the Nielsen Tennis Stadium.
