LOS ANGELES - The No. 12 UCLA women's rowing team takes on crosstown rival No. 10 USC in the two schools' annual dual-meet regatta on Saturday morning. The day's events include two varsity eight races, two varsity four races and one novice eight entry.
UCLA and USC are two of six Pac-10 programs currently ranked among the top-20 in the latest NCAA Division I Team Rankings, as conducted by USRowing/Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association.
USC will serve as the competition host on Saturday at the Port of Los Angeles in San Pedro, Calif. Saturday's event schedule begins at 8:40 a.m. with the second varsity four race. The novice eight race gets underway at 9 a.m., followed by the varsity four at 9:20 a.m.
UCLA and USC's first and second varsity eight crews will race at 9:40 a.m. and 10 a.m., respectively.
UCLA's varsity eight has fared well in earlier competitions this spring, earning first-place victories against to national programs such as Clemson, Notre Dame, Oregon State and San Diego.
Directions to USC's Boathouse (San Pedro): Take the 110 South and exit C Street. Make a right at the stop sign at Figueroa. Make a left on Harry Bridges. Turn right on Avalon. Make a left on Water Street. Turn right on Yacht Street. The boathouse is located on the left past the fire station.
