No. 3 UCLA Edged, 7-6, by No. 7 San Diego State in Overtime

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - The No. 3 UCLA women's water polo team dropped a 7-6 decision to No. 7 San Diego State in overtime at the Michigan Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 23. Junior Grace Reynolds led the Bruins with two goals in UCLA's second game of the contest.

San Diego State received one goal from each of seven players. The Aztecs led 1-0 after one quarter, before the Bruins scored five goals in the second frame to assume a 5-2 lead at halftime.

San Diego State outscored UCLA by a 4-1 margin in the second half to tie the contest, 6-6, through four quarters. The Aztecs scored the game-winning goal in the first of two three-minute overtime sessions and held the Bruins scoreless through the game's final 14 minutes.

UCLA also received one goal each from junior Kelly Easterday and freshmen Emily Greenwood, Leah Trella and Heather Van Hiel.

UCLA sophomore Caitlin Dement registered nine saves in the cage.

The Bruins return to action at the Michigan Invitational against against No. 10 Michigan and UC San Diego on Sunday, Jan .24. Game time versus Michigan is slated for 6:15 a.m. PT.
