Allie Bohannon, Keneisha Creary, Ingrid Kantola and Rhonda Watkins will travel to Fayetteville, AR for the 2007 NCAA Indoor Championships this weekend. The foursome of talented women are all in good position to win the first All-American honors of their career, and maybe even an NCAA individiual title.
Watkins, an indoor freshman, definitely has a shot at winning her first NCAA title in the long jump as she heads into the meet with the third-best mark (20-9). However, Watkins unleashed a huge outdoor long jump mark of 21-9.50 over the weekend, and is primed and ready to vie for her first individual title.
Kantola enters the meet after an impressive indoor season in which she improved by over a foot in the indoor vault. She currently ranks fourth in the NCAA this season with a mark of 13-10.
Creary, a transfer from Southwestern Christian College in Texas, improved on her best mark in every meet she competed this indoor season, eventually ending up with an NCAA auto mark of 6-00.50. She heads into the meet with the sixth-best mark in the country.
Bohannon heads into the meet with a best mile time of 4:41.42. Based off of the declared list of entries, her time currently ranks ninth heading into the meet.
Watkins and Creary will compete in the prelims and finals of their events on Friday. Bohannon will run in the mile prelims on Friday, with the final following on Saturday. Kantola will vault on Saturday in the prelims and finals.
