UCLA's Sal Zizzo Selected To NSCAA All-American Second Team
Courtesy: UCLA Athletics
Release:  12/01/2006

Dec. 1, 2006

Sophomore midfielder Sal Zizzo earned second team NSCAA All-America honors, and junior defender Mike Zaher received All-Far West Region third-team acclaim.

Zizzo (San Diego, Calif./Patrick Henry HS) has recorded seven goals and nine assists for 23 points. Remarkably, he has scored 11 of those points in the Bruins' last three games, all in the NCAA Tournament. He was also named to the All-Far West and All-Pac-10 first teams and to the Top Drawer Soccer National Team of the Season first team.

Zaher (Las Vegas, Nev./Bishop Gorman HS) has been a strong defensive presence at left back and ranks second on the team in minutes played with 1,985. He is the team's highest-scoring upperclassman with seven points off two goals and three assists. Two of his assists have come in the post-season. Zaher was earlier named to the All-Pac-10 first team.

With Zizzo's selection, UCLA has now produced an All-American in each of the last 24 years.
