The Bruins play four times at Easton Stadium next week, hosting Cal State Northridge in a Wednesday, April 18 affair at 2 p.m. and the newest Pac-12 team Utah in a three-game weekend series. The Bruins fell to 16th in this week's USA Today/NFCA poll and to 17th in the Softball rankings. UCLA was down three spots in the NFCA poll and down five in the USA Softball rankings.

Through games played on April 8, the Bruins are the nation's leader in batting average at .363 and slugging percentage at .608. UCLA is two points ahead of second-place Texas in batting average and 18 points ahead of second-place New Mexico in slugging. The Bruins are also in the Top 20 in four other categories, ranking sixth in runs per game (7.20), seventh in home runs (51), tied for 10th in doubles (58) and tied for 17th in triples (10). Individually, freshman Stephany LaRosa is in the Top 50 nationally in five categories, ranking tied for 24th in runs batted in (39), tied for 30th in triples (3), 37th in slugging (.769), tied for 40th in home runs (10) and 46th in batting average (.419). Senior Katie Schroeder is 15th in on base percentage (.543), tied for 20th in runs scored (39) and 23rd in average (.432). In the Top 50 in two categories apiece are senior Samantha Camuso (T-30 in triples with three and T-39 in slugging at .763), senior Dani Yudin (21 in on base percentage at .532 and T-25 in walks at 28) and junior B.B. Bates (T-40 in home runs at 10 and 48 in slugging at .752). Senior Andrea Harrison is tied for 24th with three sacrifice flies and sophomore Jessica Hall is tied for 12th with three saves.

Along with their Pac-12-best .366 batting average (through April 11), the Bruins are also first in the conference in slugging (.621), on base percentage (.446), hits (377), doubles (62), home runs (60) and total bases (639). The full listing of UCLA team and individual standings in the Pac-12 is available on page five of this release ... the Bruins saw their 87-game winning streak when scoring at least six runs come to an end in the first game of the April 10 doubleheader against Stanford. It was the most runs for UCLA in a defeat since May 6, 2000 at Arizona (lost 12-9 in nine innings) ... UCLA is 17-0 this season when limiting its opponent to two runs or fewer ... the Bruins are 16-0 when leading after five innings and 15-0 when leading after six. Since 2008, UCLA is 138-1 when ahead after five (only loss vs. Florida, 2/25/11) and 127-1 when ahead after six (Washington, 4/23/11) ... 29 of the Bruins' 60 home runs have been solo shots. 20 of the 60 have been leadoff homers. The third inning has been the best for homers, as the Bruins have 17 ... senior Katie Schroeder is in the UCLA career top 10 in seven categories, ranking second in runs scored (184), third in stolen bases (47) and walks (109), fourth in on base percentage (.478) and hit by pitches (28), seventh in batting average (.375) and ninth in hits (254). Senior Andrea Harrison is also listed six times, coming in at fourth in slugging (.659), tied for fourth in home runs (50), fifth in runs batted in (173) and total bases (428), seventh in hit by pitches (18) and tied for seventh in doubles (45). Senior Dani Yudin is fifth in walks (106) and tied for eighth in on base percentage (.438) and hit by pitches (17), senior Samantha Camuso is ninth in slugging (.598) and sophomore Jessica Hall is third in saves (6) ... freshman Ally Carda has earned a win and produced at least a pair of hits in the same game six times (Loyola Marymount, Fordham, Pittsburgh, UC Santa Barbara, Cal Poly, Stanford-Game 3) ... after striking out two times as often as walking through her first three years, Camuso has walked 12 times to just eight strikeouts as a senior ... in 18 fewer games and 24 fewer at-bats, sophomore Talee Snow has scored four more runs and has raised her batting average 99 points (.239 to .338) from her freshman campaign ... the 17 RBI during Pac-12 action for freshman Stephany LaRosa are the most among conference players during league games ... Hall's four saves tie her for second on UCLA's single-season list with Christa Williams (1997). Megan Langenfeld holds the record with five saves in 2008 ... Harrison has reached double figures in home runs for the third straight season and is one away from moving into fourth on UCLA's all-time list ... also in the home run department, junior B.B. Bates has one more long ball (12) than she had all of last season ... sophomore Kellie Fox recorded her fourth-career, three-hit game in the first end of an April 10 doubleheader against Stanford ... in the nightcap of that twinbill, Schroeder equaled a personal best with four runs scored ... sophomore Alyssa Tiumalu has started the last six games behind the plate ... Yudin has drawn at least 23 walks and been hit at least four times every year of her career.

Since sweeping Utah to open Pac-12 play, Washington has not won a league series, getting swept at California, losing two of three to Arizona and splitting a rain-shortened set at Oregon last weekend. The Huskies are hitting .322 as a team overall with 32 home runs, 64 stolen bases and 6.6 runs per game. Sophomore Kaitlin Inglesby leads the team with a .468 batting average and 54 runs batted in and is second with nine home runs. Two others, junior Jerrin Fa'asua (.435) and senior Kimi Pohlman (.427), are also hitting above .400, with Pohlman holding a team-high 19 steals in as many attempts. Sophomore Victoria Hayward is second with 14 stolen bases to go with a .379 average, while freshman Kylee Lahners is tops on the squad with 10 home runs. In Pac-12 play, the Huskies are hitting .270 with six home runs, 14 steals and 3.7 runs per game. Inglesby has improved her numbers with a .563 batting average to go with four homers and 16 RBI. Inglesby is also the ace in the circle, posting a 1.51 earned run average, a 17-4 record and 116 strikeouts in 139 innings. Sophomore Bryana Walker is 8-2 with a 2.09 ERA and 67 strikeouts in 70 1/3 innings, while freshman Kasey Stanchek is 9-1 with a 2.56 ERA and 63 strikeouts in 57 1/3 frames. During conference action, Inglesby is 2-4 with a 2.19 ERA and 38 strikeouts in 44 2/3 innings.

UCLA leads the all-time series 46-25 and won two of three at Easton Stadium last year. The Bruins won the first game 4-0, as Kellie Fox went 2-for-3 with a three-run homer. In game two, UCLA posted a 5-2 victory. B.B. Bates and Andrea Harrison each hit two-run homers, Alyssa Tiumalu belted a solo shot, Katie Schroeder went 2-for-4 and Jessica Hall tossed four shutout innings with four strikeouts. In the final contest, Washington claimed a 4-3, nine-inning victory. Harrison had two hits and Tiumalu homered again. The Bruins are 18-14 all-time in Seattle, but Washington won two of three in the last series in the Pacific Northwest. The Bruins won 1-0 in the first game (April 1, 2010), but lost 3-1 and 7-2 in the final two contests.
