The UCLA women's golf program will host its 3rd Annual Bruin 18 Invitational on Mon., Sept. 20 at the Palos Verdes Golf Club in Palos Verdes. The fundraiser begins at 9:30 a.m. with registration. An LPGA short game clinic starts at 10:15 a.m. followed by an 11 a.m. shotgun start. A reception, silent auction and dinner will commence in the late afternoon following golf.
Several UCLA alumni are expected to participate, including former All-Americans Charlotte Mayorkas, Tiffany Joh, Hannah Jun, Maria Jose Uribe and Sydnee Michaels. Professionals Ryann O'Toole, Maiya Tanaka and Mo Martin are also expected to appear.
Head Coach Carrie Forsyth, entering her 12th season, is excited about the event. "Our fundraiser has grown into a fun day of golf, camaraderie and all things UCLA. It is a great opportunity for our former players to reunite and help support our program. We are extremely thankful to the Gifford Foundation, which will serve as our title sponsor for the second consecutive year."
Forsyth has built the UCLA program into a national powerhouse, guiding it to 10 straight NCAA berths, an NCAA title in 2004, five NCAA Regional Championships, three Pac-10 titles and 34 tournament victories. She has coached 20 All-Americans, including 12 first-team selections and 11 consensus first-team choices.
