Freshman Robin Anderson (Matawan, NJ/Matawan Regional HS) of the UCLA women's tennis team was selected as the UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for Apr. 9-15.
Anderson defeated two top 10 singles opponents and one top 10 doubles team over the weekend, helping the top-ranked UCLA women's tennis team to a split in its trip to the Bay Area. Against No. 10 Cal on Friday, Anderson, only a freshman, defeated eighth-ranked and former NCAA Singles Champion senior Jana Juricova, 2-6, 6-1, 7-5 at the No. 1 position. She came back the following day to defeat third-ranked Nicole Gibbs, 6-2, 6-2 in UCLA's 5-2 victory over No. 6 Stanford, the Cardinal's first regular-season home loss in more than 13 years. Anderson also teamed with Skylar Morton at the No. 1 doubles position, defeating third-ranked Gibbs and Mallory Burdette, 8-6. Anderson is currently ranked No. 4 in singles and No. 11 in doubles with Morton.
This is Anderson's second UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week honor of the season and of her career.
