IRVINE, Calif. - Senior Gabrielle Domanic scored the game-winning goal with seven seconds remaining in sudden-victory overtime to lead the No. 1 UCLA women's water polo team to a thrilling 8-7 win against No. 2 Stanford in the championship match at the UC Irvine Invitational on Sunday evening.
UCLA (17-0) never trailed in regulation. Deadlocked, 6-6, following the fourth quarter, the game entered two three-minute overtime sessions followed by one three-minute sudden-victory period.
Stanford (9-2) captured its first lead of the match with 2:46 remaining in the second overtime period, as Koree Blyleven scored her second goal of the game. UCLA took advantage of its third 6-on-5 opportunity in overtime when senior Jillian Kraus registered a goal with 46 seconds to play in the period.
Domanic's goal with seven seconds remaining in the game handed UCLA the lead for good.
Sunday evening's championship match marked the first game between both programs since UCLA defeated Stanford, 5-4, in the 2007 NCAA Championship match in Los Alamitos, Calif. (May 13, 2007).

Stanford's Lauren Silver recorded a game-high three goals. Amber Oland made 11 saves in goal for the Cardinal.
