UCLA (21-8), ranked ninth in the latest AVCA Top 25 poll, will travel to Austin, Texas for the first and second rounds of the NCAA Tournament. The unseeded Bruins will take on American University (29-2) on Friday in the first round and with a win would face either #9-seed Texas or Texas-San Antonio on Saturday.

The Bruins will face the Eagles at 4:30 p.m. CT/2:30 p.m. PT, with Texas playing UTSA at 6:30 p.m. CT/4:30 p.m. PT. The first-round winners will meet up on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. CT/4:30 p.m. PT. Gametracker and live audio will be available at UCLABruins.com.

The Bruins placed fourth in the Pacific-10 Conference with an 11-7 record, but were not awarded one of the Top 16 national seeds. American University received an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament as winners of the Patriot League after going 14-0 during league play. The Eagles' only two losses were at the hands of Georgetown and Oregon. Of American's 29 wins, 24 were sweeps.

In the other side of the sub-regional, ninth-seeded Texas went 23-5 overall and finished second in the Big 12 Conference with an 18-2 mark. The Longhorns will be opposed in the first round by Texas-San Antonio, which won the Southland Conference Tournament. The Roadrunners went 22-11 during the regular season and won the Western Division of the league with a 13-3 mark.

The winner of the Austin sub-regional will play in Texas again the following weekend, as the school will also host the Regional round to be played Dec. 10-11. The winner of the Austin sub-regional will take on the winner of the Champaign sub-regional, which features #8 Illinois, Austin Peay, Western Kentucky and Cincinnati.
