SEATTLE, Wash. - Senior Dicey McGraw paced the 12th-ranked Bruins with 12 kills to go along with nine digs, while junior Lauren Van Orden had a double-double with 29 assists and 10 digs, but UCLA lost in three sets at #10 Washington on Saturday at Hec Ed Pavilion. Set scores were 25-20, 26-24, 25-17.

The Bruins fall to 11-3 overall and 1-2 in Pac-10 play, while the Huskies improve to 14-1 and 3-1 in league action.

Sophomore Bojana Todorovic was a kill and a dig shy of a double-double with nine apiece, as she hit .364 with just one error in 22 attempts. Junior Katie Camp had a perfect hitting night, posting six kills and no errors in 14 swings for a .429 hitting percentage to go with three blocks. Van Orden was joined in the double-figure digs category by junior Lainey Gera (13) and freshman Kelly Reeves (10). The Bruins hit just .115 for the match.

The Bruins scored two of the first three points of the match on a kill by freshman Mariana Aquino and a Washington service error. But the Huskies came back with the next four to go up 5-2 and never trailed for the rest of the set. UCLA was down 7-3 and got back to within one at 7-6 after a Husky service error and consecutive kills by McGraw and Aquino.

UCLA though was able to score back-to-back points just twice during the rest of the set. The Bruins were within one again at 13-12, but could not even the score. Washington's largest lead of the set was six at 24-18, as the home team went on to win 25-20 in the opener. McGraw and Todorovic each had three kills in the first, while Camp added two kills and two blocks. UCLA was out-hit .371 to .188.

The second set was a close one, with 16 ties and eight lead changes and neither team leading by more than two. The Bruins took an early 4-2 advantage on kills by McGraw and sophomore Rachael Kidder and two Washington errors. Trailing 5-4, the Huskies came back with three in a row to go ahead 7-5. UCLA battled back though to regain the lead. Down 9-7, the Bruins received a kill from Camp and consecutive Husky errors to go up by one. The topsy-turvy second set continued, as Washington scored three in a row to take a 12-10 edge and force UCLA into a timeout.

But again the Bruins came back with a 4-0 run to take a 14-12 advantage. Aquino started the run with a kill, Van Orden posted an ace and back-to-back spikes by McGraw and Todorovic made it a two-point difference. The score was tied again at 14, 15, 16 and 17-all, but a kill by Camp and an ace from Reeves gave the Bruins a 19-17 edge. The Huskies responded with the next two and tied it at 19 and 20, but a UW service error and a Todorovic kill put the Bruins up by two again at 22-20.

The Huskies went on a mini 3-0 run to regain the lead at 23-22, but the Bruins received consecutive kills by McGraw and Todorovic to give the visitors a set point at 24-23. However, Washington made one final push, recording another 3-0 run to take the second set 26-24. Todorovic posted five kills in the second, McGraw added four and Camp and Kidder had three apiece. The Bruins were out-hit .280 to .132.

UCLA held an early 5-4 advantage to start the third set, but Washington came back with five of the next seven to take a 9-7 lead and the home team never trailed for the rest of the set. Up 10-9, the Huskies scored the next three and seven of nine to go ahead 17-11. The Bruins scored on their serve just three times in the final set. Washington's largest lead was eight, as the home squad went on to win the third 25-17. McGraw had five kills in the third for the Bruins, who were out-hit .361 to .027.

The Bruins play their first Pac-10 home matches next weekend against a pair of undefeated teams in #8 California and #1 Stanford. Friday and Saturday's contests both start at 7 p.m. at Pauley Pavilion. Gametracker and free audio and video will be available at UCLABruins.com.
