Sophomore outfielder Katie Schroeder (Yorba Linda, CA/Esperanza HS) of the UCLA softball team was selected as the UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for Apr. 20-26.
Schroeder hit .545 last weekend, posting six hits in 11 at-bats with five runs scored and a two-run homer to help the second-ranked Bruins to a three-game sweep of the Arizona schools. She had hits in all three games to extend her career-best hitting streak to 13. On Friday at Arizona, Schroeder posted a two-hit game, her 13th multiple-hit contest of the season. On Saturday at Arizona State, the sophomore notched her 14th multiple-hit game with a 3-for-3 effort. Schroeder scored three times, drew a walk and also stole a base. The sophomore finished off the weekend by hitting her team-best 13th home run on Sunday against the Sun Devils, also scoring a run after getting hit by a pitch. Schroeder leads the Bruins with a .410 batting average, 13 home runs, a .739 slugging percentage, a .533 on base percentage, 29 walks and 17 stolen bases.
This is Schroeder's first UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week honor of the season and of her career.
