Three UCLA volleyball players earned MPSF All-Academic honors, the conference announced Wednesday.
Chaghouri, a fourth-year junior, will graduate in June with a 3.87 cumulative grade point average in Biology. In his tenure at UCLA, he was named to the Director's Honor Roll 12 times and to the Dean's list seven times. Recently, Chaghouri was awarded the Athletic Director's Academic Excellence Award for making the honor roll in every quarter of his enrollment. He also was named to UCLA's 2007 All-Academic Team and was awarded the Rose Gilbert Scholar Athlete of the Year for highest cumulative grade point average for all UCLA student-athletes in 2007. For the last two years, he was voted to the CoSIDA District VIII Academic All-America Team. Athletically, Chaghouri earned three varsity letters, played in 88 matches and passed better than 97% of his service receptions as a backup libero to Ker.
Ker, 21, recently was voted a First-Team AVCA All-American as the Bruins' starting libero. He boasts a 3.02 overall gpa as a Sociology major. A five-time member of the Director's Honor Roll, Ker has led the Bruins in digs for three seasons and currently ranks second on UCLA's career digs list with 852. A three-year starter, Ker has earned All-America and all-conference honors three times, and last season was named the national Defensive Player of the Year.
Defenbach, a third-year sophomore, claims a 3.06 gpa in Sociology. A four-time DHR member and two-year letterman as a quick hitter, he played in 29 matches in 2007 and led the Bruins in blocking.
