Sophomore Nicole Leach has been named the Pac-10 Women's Track Athlete of the Week after leading the Bruin women to victory against USC for the 15th straight season as she put on an impressive performance in three events. Leach started off the day in the 400m, running a lifetime-best and No. 5 mark in the country of 51.97. She then came back to run the No. 2 time in the World, Nation and NCAA in the 400m hurdles in her season debut with a time of 55.60. That mark broke the USC Stadium and Dual meet records (previously set by Olympic Gold Medalist and UCLA alum Joanna Hayes). Leach then returned to anchor the Bruin 4x400m relay team victory and a season-best time of 3:36.55 (53.4 split).
It is the second athlete of the week honor for the Bruins this season. Rhonda Watkins won the honor on April 9.
