The men's and women's track and field teams will send athletes to three different last chance meets this weekend with the hopes of posting performances that will qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships,held in College Station, TX March 11-12.
The women will send Turquoise Thompson (400m), Tamara Purpura (800m), Paisley Pettway (800m), Ashlea McLaughlin (800m), Lindsay Rowe (60m hurdles) and the 4x400m relay to Seattle to race at the UW Final Qualifier on Saturday.
Thompson ranks 45th in the NCAA in the 400m (54.21), McLaughlin ranks 36th in the 800m (2:07.66), Rowe is the No. 15 hurdler in the NCAA (8.18) and the 4x400m relay ranks 23rd (3:36.77).
For the men's team, Quentin Powell (400m), Maxwell Dyce (400m), Karlton Rolle (400m), Philip MacQuitty (800m), Scott Crawford (800m), Alex Crabill (3000m), Kent Morikawa (3000m) and the distance medley relay will compete in South Bend, IN at the Alex Wilson Invitational.
Morikawa ranks 40th in the NCAA in the 3000m (8:01.38), while the DMR ranks 19th (9:39.62).
Heading to Blacksburg, VA for the Virginia Tech Final Qualifier are Taylor Hobson (high jump), Greg Woepse (pole vault), Casey DiCesare (pole vault), Jonathan Clark (triple jump), Bo Taylor (shot put), Mark Weber (shot put) and Alec Faldermeyer (weight throw).
Woepse ranks 27th in the NCAA in the vault (17-3.50), Clark ranks 12th in the triple (52-9.25) and Faldermeyer is tied for 12th in the weight throw.
