Sophomore Bianca Casciari (Poway, CA/Poway HS) of the UCLA swimming & diving team was selected as the UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for Mar. 15-21.
Casciari capped off her first NCAA Championship experience with a bang, finishing seventh in the 200 fly with a school-record breaking performance. Casciari started the Bruins off to a hot start in the Saturday morning prelim session, swimming a lifetime-best in the 200 fly (1:55.14) to advance to the A final (old best 1:55.40). Once in the A final, she swam another lifetime-best mark, 1:54.87, to finish seventh overall. Her time set a new school record, breaking Kim Vandeberg's 2005 record of 1:54.99. Her seventh-place finish earned her the first individual All-America honor of her career. She also earned honorable mention All-American honors as a member of the 400 medley relay team that placed 16th overall, while also setting a new school record.
This is Casciari's first UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week honor of the season and of her career.
